About Westhill
It is situated on the western side of Makhanda, on the right-hand side of the Cradock Road as you enter the town. The suburb stretches from Milner Street on its eastern border to the Old Quarry in the west.
West Hill is widely considered the most exclusive and historic residential suburb in Grahamstown. It is highly sought after by families and academics due to its prime location, leafy tree-lined streets, and proximity to elite educational institutions.
The defining feature of Westhill is its immediate walking-distance proximity to St. Andrew’s College, St. Andrew’s Preparatory School, and the Diocesan School for Girls (DSG). It sits right on the doorstep of Rhodes University, making it a prime location for the university's Chancellor's residence, professors, and affluent students.
West Hill hosts the Amazwi South African Museum of Literature on Worcester Street, an award-winning, completely eco-friendly "Green Building".
